Regarding Kermit's suggestions, my ideas in bold:
"EO’s may decide it has the status of a CiA event and so enable CiA Ordinary Membership to be considered"
what about: "EO's may, with consideration towards the membership criteria and CiA standards of clothing and equipment, decide that players at a co-hosted event will qualify for Ordinary Membership" (or some other shite like that)
This seems a little clearer to me and puts it into context, I concur![/b}
"OM’s will be required to abide by rules laid down by - membership can be removed at any time by the EO's"
How about: "OM’s will be required to abide by rules laid down in the membership agreement - membership can be revoked for transgressions of the OM agreement, conduct unbecoming of a member, or for bringing Airsoft of Re-enactment into disrepute"
Covers pretty much everything from cheating to punching a fellow player, or simply because someone is being a complete cock.
Yep, I agree with this. It needs to be clearer. Guy's right about airsoft though.
And whilst I remember, do we actually need something in the constitution about the minimum requirements for membership? - which i still reckon needs to be 2 events, in kit, within a 6 month period, with EO's discretion on top of it.
Tough one really. We still need to remain inclusive, yet have a standard. I think we should stick to what we discussed at the meeting last week. One game in kit at the discretion of EO's.
Can we change EO's to XO's instead. EO just makes me think of Sting in The Police. ![]()

Yes, my draft doesn't mention 'airsoft' anywhere ![]()

Just bear in mind we don't need to define too much in a constitution, it's just a set of guidelines.
The less we define the more flexible we can be with "the rules" which are seperate to this doc.
we can revoke membership at any time works for me, because it is unequivocal, and also undefined. We are not obliged to give any reasons . ![]()
Dave, whilst your at it, could you bring all the bank mandate stuff with you tomorrow so I can have a look through.

As Guy says, no need to be too specific - the constitution is for our benefit and those who require documentary evidence (bank, tax man etc)
Bank details here:

"OM’s join on a lifetime basis"
Shouldn't that be "yearly basis", as the 15 quid covers them for a period of 12 months?
The constitution doesn't have anything to do with AFRA directly - it only concerns itself with CiA rather than an affiliation.
Yes, I know. But for arguements sake, it makes it easier if both run concurrently. And for the same period.

making more work for the memebership secretary . ....
reckon join CiA for life, renew AFRA subs every year....although is it your AFRA card or your CiA card that lets you buy RIFs ?
Well, it wont be the CiA card, thats for sure, as the PLI (and hence the ability to buy a RIF) comes from the AFRA thing.
And why does it make more work for the membership secretary, after all, once a year subs for AFRA are going to have to be bleeding well collected anyway....

Take your point - it would be nice if we could build up a CIA membership though. It doesn't mean anything in particular (at the moment, until we get membership benefits sorted along the way) other than they have played a CiA game but it does mean they are one of us as apposed to F&O or Gunman member.
So, we could make it yearly but they would have to attend at least one game a year to be eligible - what if next year we only run two games? In other words, it becomes redundant.
CiA membership is free, says you have been to one of our games, we have all your personal details and proof you are a player, and you are part of something you can't buy. And at some point it may confer privileges - priority game bookings, supplier discounts or offers (off the top of my head).
With AFRA on the other hand, as it is a yearly thing that needs not only game playing but kit levels too - and will require an ongoing game playing to be validated.

work levels was slightly tongue in cheek !
I thought the membership of CiA would be = to the requirements of AFRA in terms of attendance and kit ?
I thought we decided on Sunday: One full, completed game and adequate kit at the discretion of XO's.
This meant we could take on previously unknown members at the end of a game day.

I see your point about being "one of us" compared to being "one of Josh's lot", but being a "CiA member" as opposed to a "CiA AFRA affiliated member" confuses things somewhat.
Although I can see the marketing point of view, i believe that it will confuse the whole issue. Look at it from the punters POV. What does a basic membership get them? Er, a membership card that means nothing. You wont be able to use it to buys RIF's, or Import - so why bother joining such a scheme?
KISS principle applies. You have players that turn up to events and CIA members who are affiliated to AFRA. Don't make it any more complicated than that.
Sorry if im coming across as arsey, im having an extremely bad day, and im not in the mood to mince my words ![]()

Hang on, rewind.
Dealing with CiA membership first - forget AFRA for the moment.

Why? It's the reason we are setting up the membership and the only reason it needs to exist. The only incentive for people to become members (PLI, PAX, RiF purchase) are directly attributed to AFRA membership. One surely goes in hand with the other. Like a beautiful symbiosis.

Whether we have anything to do with AFRA or not is by the by.
OUR members are just that - attend a game and you will become a CIA member (not compulsary if you don't want it, but automatic none the less). You could be 16, you could just have 'look-like' kit and an AK47. Doesn't matter - you are part of CiA.
What benefits does it bring?
To the punter:
It's free
Belonging, people like being part of a club
Potential commercial advantages, as yet undefined.
Signed status that may be used for AFRA application (conditions apply)
To us:
On the register - name, address, email
One day we might have PLI in which case validated proper records would be useful
Brand loyalty

I got ya.

I think it's just that the AFRA thing has coloured thought too much and the reason for doing this has been forgotton.
We need a bank account.
We need to make CiA less 'casual'.
To do this we need a constitution.
A constitution needs to simply define structure, aims, membership.

Confused here :-
is it free to join CiA , however we can then sign your AFRA membership form ? In which case the 16 year old with dodgy kit gets told no .
I'd prefer "join CiA and join AFRA at the same time under the same established criteria" . If you choose to renew your AFRA fee in year 2 is up to you .
Otherwise we will have a 2 tier memebership of CiA, which I don't think is as good .
Also if we do ever go for "private 2 games TDs etc, we will have some CiA memebrs who can go (coz they have AFRA) and some who can't .....
Finally - to confirm when you go to buy a RIF, you will presuambly have to show your AFRA number rather than A CiA thing.
Forget AFRA, it's clouding the issue! Few players will be interested in AFRA or have need of it and it will be irrelevant to them.
I'm talking about our players and our organisation and our constitution.
CiA members are our players, and it's free.
CiA membership doesn't confer status to buy RIFs.

Disagree
, the main reason for doing this IMHO is to enable them to buy RIFs via AFRA and the reenactors defence, hence my earlier guestimate at it only being of interest to around 20 players.
I don't see any point to handing out CiA membership cards like confetti to anyone who comes to a game or joins the forum without it having some tangible benefits. It will dilute what being a member is, esp if ity's going towards the reenactor defence . . "Being a part" is not enough IMHO ...most already see themselves as a part of CiA by being on this formum . Having a CiA membership card without anything to it is......chocolate teapot stuff .
We can already mass email if you're thinking data capture for futrue promotions ....
Since we are discussing selling memebrship at £20 with £15 going to AFRA , the two have always been linked as I understood it, I don't know why you appear to want to split them up now at the last minute?
Not having a go here, just think we're veering away from what I thought we had discussed last Sunday ? re reading HS andf Jays comments think they had the same idea ![]()
